GTD/GT3 Program Moving to Mercedes

Effective immediately, due to BoP changes enacted by iRacing, D2D eSports is moving our GT Daytona/GT3 development back to the Mercedes AMG platform from the Ferrari 488 GT3. The entirety of changes over the life of the Ferrari 488 GT3 has created a machine that novice and average drivers/teams struggle with; drivers and teams must now operate at a much higher level to compete in the car with the reductions in downforce, increase in low wing setting drag, and the aggressive setups that must be used to compensate.

This decision has not been made lightly. We have reached out to many members of the iRacing community for advice and input, and at this time we would like to specifically thank Dave Cameron and RevMatch Esports for their contributions in providing input and direction ; Dave even did some testing for us! As D2D is not operating at the level required to be competitive with the car, which we feel is beautiful and we enjoyed driving, we are moving back to the Mercedes platform. We feel this move will allow us to enjoy better results given the limited resources we have for development at this time.

We would also like to recognize at this time the admins of the Ricmotech SportsCar Championship, the governing body of sports car racing at Xtreme Motorsports, for their dedication to a high level of competition and understanding of the impact the BoP had on the GTD class as a whole within the series.

Note: D2D eSports will continue to compete in the GTE/GTLM classes with the Ferrari 488 GTE for the remainder of 2019.
